Could I use a dog/cat stroller to carry rats around?

Posted February 20th, 2012 by admin

I would like to take my pet rats (when I get them) places and I want them to be in a carrier or stroller (*wink*wink*) So would any of these be good, because I want them to have A LOT of room! But, i don’t want them to get out.

I don’t know why exactly you want to do this but the smaller ones for up to 15 lbs will work fine

Yes the small 15 pound stroller will work just fine, however be sure to inspect it each time before use for any signs of wear, or for holes the rats can escape from. Nothing would be worse for your rats than escaping on a walk as they will have no idea how to survive in the wild.

Be aware of the temperatures as well. Do not take your rats out if it is too cold (if you need more than a long sleeve shirt and light jacket it’s too cold), and do not take them out if the temperature is over 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Rats do not do well in extreme cold or extreme heat.

Also if you take them out please leave them something to hide in if they feel threatened.
